I was checking out different "offer evaluation" posts here and noticed that almost all of them have mentioned joining bonuses of 50K+ I currently have two job offers from Oracle Health and Citrix. Role - Senior DevOps / SRE. YOE 15. 100% remote (I'm in Seattle, WA) Both are giving 180-200K base. No RSU. Neither of them have any joining bonus at all. Am I being shafted or what? #tech #JobOffer #salary #JoiningBonus
Market has shifted you are late to the game . Nov 21 to March 22 was the perfect timing
Those look like solid offers, but check levels.fyi if you want to be sure There's a big sampling bias on blind-- you tend to see the top 1% in a lot more than 1% of posts. 50K+ signing bonuses are usually for jobs which pay 400K+/year
Should I ask the recruiters "what's the level of the job?" How should I explain if they ask "what do you mean by that?" (Sorry, my question might sound dumb. I've been in my last job for 10+ years and haven't had to deal with job hunts / negotiations.)
Yeah "What level is this role?" or something. It's a pretty normal thing to ask in my experience
🥜 for that YOE
I wasn’t offered a signing bonus at first offer and I know my previous company didn’t but I secured $50k through negotiation. As a hiring manager at my previous company, the hiring bonus was from 0 to 60k and completely dependent on the candidate asking for and negotiating for it.
Oracle (non oci) gave me sign on, only 20k though
I rather negotiate my severance than sign on
I know folks in Oracle Health and RSU and SignOn is possible, but you have to fight for it or have a counter offer.
Take them both.
