Offer evaluation

My goal is to eventually become a product manager, move outside of Arizona (born & raised), work for a company I enjoy working at (previously worked at a well known tech company, left due to toxic culture) Offer 1: Amazon, program manager in Seattle, 75k base, 7.5k bonus, 7.5k stock (total 90k) *I enjoyed talking to everyone I met through the interview cycle, product excites me, etc. just afraid I might get a shit manager, get piped, fired, etc. Also TC seems low to survive in Seattle Offer 2: American Express, Associate product manager in Phoenix, 70k plus 7k bonus (total 77k) YOE: 4 Current TC: 60k I’m kinda split because the Amex role is the title I’m looking for, but wrong location, and I actually like the fast paced tech environment vs slower/ more traditional companies. Also Amazon, is a FAANG, which might help down the line when I need a new job.

Program Managers in Amazon just work crappy spreadsheets. Go to Amex.

OP, read Blind a bit more to understand the culture of AMZ, lol. I'm literally counting the days til I'm✌🏾tf out. If you want to hit your goals, go with Amex. Plus, my sis works there😉

You’re right, if relocating to Seattle, $75k base will not go far at all.

Yea 75k is less than 🥜 in Seattle

Facts.

Read up on Amazons culture. Then take the Amex offer.

Is this an L4 role? I made like $72k base at Amazon as a program manager ($100k TC) 8 years ago as an L5. They should have way more runway than that if it’s an L5 role, which with 4 YOE, you should be targeting.

LOL no, it’s Arizona bro, with that salary I can afford to pay my mortgage, eat well, save for retirement, travel etc. all while being a single income household

Do you have a CS degree or technical at all? I’d aim for technical program manager role, will pay a lot more.

I think u should include in ur TC, 5% base yearly bonus (assuming its B30 role) which can go upto 2.5x based on ur performance. Also Amex matches 6% in 401k (includes match on bonus amt) and 2.5% profit sharing, compared to 2% 401k match with Amzn.
