A friend is moving from Nomura ( consulting on H1B thru a service firm ) to Morgan Stanley ( full time H1B ) in NYC. Bachelors in Electronics engineering from India , 11 years experience in backend Java all in Finance industry. Offer :- Base - 130k 1st year bonus - 15k I feel it’s too low but they say it’s more than their current pay ( 110k ). What’s the usual offer for H1Bs making a move from contract to full time ?
lol Microsoft offer such package
Sorry for my assumed acronym ... MS of Finance as in : Morgan Stanley :)
Consultancy experience is hardly accounted for in calculating the compensation in full time offers atleast for tech companies! What is your friends title? Does that line up with the compensation?
I think it’s Associate level ... which is 2nd from the bottom ( and the pay is online for that) ... which is unfair for a 11+ experience professional
How much domain experience?
11 years in Finance
That’s very low. Knowledge is general finance or specific capital market?
Hmmm...FI and Equities. If it’s Deep, that is, can come up with requirements him/herself, that’s low. If it’s developer knowledge, needs specs, it’s about right.
