Offer from Amazon Applied Scientist II, L5 Compensation, Seattle

I am a fresh new graduate Ph.D. in CS major, working on ML area. Middle-level University. I recently got an Amazon offer in Seattle, as Applied Scientist II. I tried to argue the total package, but they give me the offer below. I would like to ask your opinions. Base: 155K Bonus: 120K + 95K RSU: 300K (not sure the number of units) So Amazon Calculated TC is: 290K (as same as the first year) My Calculated number is 284K (Just average everything) BTW, I really love this team, which is perfectly matching my research area. And the manager looks so nice! However, comparing with other offers in my hand, their package is lower. And they refused to match. Should I keep this offer? I saw many others who got TC over 300K. But Amazon kept this number as final. Any suggestions? Thanks! #tech #amazon #salarycomparison #salary

Isn't near 300k good for phd fresh graduate?

To be honest this is a fair price. However, I have other offers which are higher than this one. I asked for matching but they refused. (See my edited post). The good thing is I really like this team projects and their manager (looks very nice). So for me, this is a hard choice.

It does look like top of the band for SEA.

Mind sharing what's the interview like?

There is no interview, I got the return offer from the internship.

If you post your other offers one can help put them into perspective .

285 base is crazy. What position is this? I wasn't aware BB pays so high

What’s your goal? Max TC / WLB / Skillgrind / Project type? Seems like you’re conflicted over the quality of the team and work vs. the disparity in TC. Everyone’s gonna call that differently. (Although $155k base vs $285k base is ...pretty staggering). IMO it’s easier to angle for higher TC later with the skills/rep you build. Also - Fresh grad? Look for good mentors (i.e. the mentors you pick will have more influence over future TC growth than jumping into the high-TC frying pan without mentored perspective)

Thank you very much for your suggestions! I do not care WLB. But I am entangled in choosing max TC and project type. I prefer the project I will work on since if I choose one far from my Ph.D. research area, I will be not competitive with others. However, I just had my first kid a few months ago, which brought me much stress. I love your suggestion about the mentors, which I have never had considered yet! Thank you!!!

hey! i am also fresh phd in cs, currently on recruiting market. My initial offers range from 220k (amazon seattle) to 375k (snap LA). I didnt do well on the amazon interview.

Amazon lldbgdb OP Nov 12, 2020

Wow! 375k in LA is at least equal to 330k in Seattle! That is a fantastic offer!!

I think Snap tends to give higher offers in general. I am onto negotiating phase. Any tips? ;-) Did you mention aipaygrad.es?
