I got an offer from a FAANG for 130/30/85 and I accepted it as I thought I won’t anything better from another big company but they did with 145/50/185 that’s a clear 40k TC difference. (1.5 years experience) Do you think it’s worth burning bridges as I am still in early stages of my career? How much does FAANG brand name matter in your resume as oppose to let’s say Intuit/LinkedIn/Pinterest ? Does 40k TC a big deal or am I being very short sighted? EDIT: FANG didn’t revise the offer!
Also, the company will make a big difference... You can try to renegotiate with faang
You don’t own to a company anything, unless you start working. If you value money more, just go to the second one. Invent good excuse not to join the first one.
Even if you do start, you can jump shipe
I don’t think you’ll burn a bridge just don’t be a jerk about it. Explain that 40k is a lot of money “but oh I really wanted to work at your excellent company omg... if only you (recruiter) could work with me to make my dreams real kthx?” (Whatever.) either they’ll match or they won’t, nbd
What is the other big company? Which one would you like to work more?
First one is my dream company I don’t know which team I’ll end up but the second job is what I want to do (iOS )
Tough choice, if you had not already accepted one of them
So you're rejecting Apple to go to LinkedIn huh.. fool
intuit is nothing like linkedin or pinterest lol. random list
I tried to have good tech company in the second list but not a huge behemoth like FAANG. Can you explain why you wanted me to differentiate between LinkedIn and Pinterest (how would that change your suggestion)?
I get what you’re saying, but LinkedIn is owned by MSFT. They’re kind of a huge behemoth.
Tell them you unexpectedly received a much higher offer and you are having a hard time justifying to your family/parents/partner why you should accept their lower offer. And that it would be helpful if they can at least match the other offer. See if they do.
This
Agree completely. Don't try to push them beyond. Just say you weren't expecting it but you feel it would be irresponsible to not accept better offer. Reaffirm thst you would accept theirs if they match. Worst case is they say no and you have a slightly worse chance but probably not going to Google in the future
If it is Linkedin or Pinterest, Take Second!!
Tell your recruiter immediately. "X co. Is still, absolutely, my top choice. There's no where else I'd rather be, but I'm concerned that the 15k gap will not only impact me now, but also as I continue in my career." Something something.
40k
40k is a big deal, it will affect your income for the rest of your career.
