Received the following offers. All TC numbers are four-year average. I also included after-tax TC because it makes a big difference for NYC vs Chicago vs WA. All offers are final after negotiation. Personal location preference: WA > Chicago > NYC Google L4 (remote in WA): $282k pretax, $196.5k after-tax. $169k base, 15% bonus, $349k stock, no signing. Pros: Remote obviously. Google reputation, engineering quality, and WLB. Great team match, working on open-source compilers/OS. Best career mobility if I want to leave afterwards. Cons: Lowest TC. Takes a while to get to L5. Two Sigma L2 (NYC): $344k pretax, $196.7k after-tax. As you can see the pretax is much higher than Google but the after-tax is the same. $200k base, $125k bonus, $75k signing. Pros: I've heard good WLB but not as good as Google. Well-known in the finance industry. Hybrid but good remote policy (five days per month in-office required) Cons: Same TC as Google in a more expensive city. IMC Trading (Chicago) $362.5k pretax, $229k after-tax. Pros: Highest TC. Flat levels (could be a con too; not that familiar). Cons: Worst WLB. Seems like 45-50 hours based on the engineers I talked to. Everyone comes in at 8 AM to be there when the market opens. Pretty unknown outside the trading industry; worst career mobility. Worst remote policy (60% onsite). Bonuses after the first year have two-year vesting. IMC sounds like a lot more, but I performed a month-by-month analysis of IMC vs Google until 2025. Google assumptions: 1x bonus multiplier (15%), $80k refreshers in 2023 and 2024. No stock growth. IMC assumptions: $150k bonus year 1 (guaranteed), $200k bonus year 2, $250k bonus year 3 The plot shows the difference between IMC and Google cumulative earnings (post-tax) up to a certain month. Bar above zero means IMC is better that month; bar below zero means Google is better that month. As you can see, IMC is better if I leave in the first half of 2023 or after March 2025, otherwise Google is better. And the difference is fairly small; about $60k at most over three years. If Google stock grows by 20% then Google will be better. Basically, it comes down to Google brand/WLB/remote vs $30k per year more TC. TC: $150k, L61 (Southeast US) YoE: 2.5 LC count: 261 (97 easy, 150 medium, 14 hard. Update: went with Google #google #imc #twosigma

Congrats on the offers! How was Google interview?
Interview difficulty: Google > Two Sigma = Meta >> IMC. I passed Meta coding rounds but didn't do well on system design. They wanted to do an extra interview but by then I was no longer interested. Google interview was lots of trees and graphs, no DP. Between LC medium and hard. I prefer Google's approach of asking a single question with follow-ups over having to type two questions from memory at Meta. Google, 2S, IMC questions were not on LC. Meta's were 100% from LC.
No DP at google I havenβt seen less than 2 in my interviews haha
Are you referring to Fuchsia team at Google?
Chrome OS
Ahh, ok!
Google because of the team, technology, and future career mobility. The TC difference isnβt enough especially after tax to make a difference either way especially so early in your career, and you donβt seem to have a location or tech vs. finance preference so would optimize for long term growth. Great comp analysis by the way.
IMC bonus growth likely much better than that
How about at 2S?
I know someone working there who gave me that range, what would be your estimate?
What were the Two Sigma interviews like? LC mediums?
LC medium but they expect you to run the code and write working tests. The questions themselves were slightly easier than Google though.
Thanks. So it was one LC medium per round? Any other rounds?
OP, can I dm about two sigma offer? In a similar situation
Sure
current TC yoe?
