I just joined a startup with 30ish people and I got an invite to join the slack the day before starting but that's about it. My calender is empty, no welcome meeting, onboarding, etc. How do I manage expectations here? Seems like I have to chase them to learn the business... Set up to fail?
Obvious first step is to send a Slack message to your hiring manager saying “Hi, I’m here and when should I set up our 1:1” Or just do nothing ;)
I like the 1:1 idea, smart
it’s a start up, chill out and go with the flow
I mean, that's how it was for me at LinkedIn, so...
get paid to do nothing is what you want
just normal startup
30 people and you expected organized onboarding? That is a fundamentally flawed understanding of standard expectations at an early stage company. Get comfortable with ambiguity and self starting REALLY FAST or find a new gig, because this is status quo.
