What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Over the course of 10 months I interviewed with all of FANG with the exception of Apple. I was either passed on or recycled at various stages of the interviews. I realized that I would freeze up and make stupid mistakes during the coding portion of the interviews. I would be able to come up with optimal solutions, but the journey to that solution would often be shakey, and not concise. Other than leetcode, what should I be doing for the next year? Thanks in advance! tc: 125k yoe: 6 (FE)
You talked about coding, but not design. Are you good there? Generally, the advise is to segment your interview into 4 phases, 1. Req clarification 2. Problem solving 3. Coding 4. Verification Don't jump to next step till you are comfortable that you did the previous step to your and your interviewers satisfaction. Find a study buddy, who is comparable or tad bit better. And repeat the assessment,. Practice, improvement loop a few times and you should be all set. LC helps, but it doesn't simulate real interviews.
Design hasnāt been an issue for me. Thanks for the response. I will try to follow this.
No one is a ālittle betterā than the Techlead. Ex-Google Ex-Facebook
Did you read books like design patterns, clean code, pragmatic Programmer etc? Also there are some more design patterns for functional languages like js compared to oop. I guess you know all these since you said design is something that you are good at. Maybe you can practice them more and start explaining them to others. This will improve your communication skills since you already know stuff
Thanks! Yes, my confidence is the killer in interviews. I second guess my words, which distracts and cheapens my actual knowledge.
Uh, AirBnb isn't FANG...

Consider a Google L4 interview, many of them have no design. If you hit it out of the park once hired, you might be able to get a relatively quick promotion.
I read the original post as, OP is aceing design but not the coding. :(
Yes, I misread.
Just curious, which city/area are you in? There may be local groups that can help with assessment, practice and improvement.
I am in Phoenix. Phoenix is mostly boot camp FE folks, or freelance / contractors. Most people Iāve met in AZ have never been through a FANG interview.
Hmm, do you see yourself as a SWE/SDE Amazon L5 or FB+GOOG L4-L5?
