After living in the Bay Area for 6 years. It’s time for me to leave. San Francisco was the straw that broke the camels back for me. My time in this city has been nothing short of isolating and depressing. It’s a bit ineffable. It’s like the city prides itself in being so woke and accepting but that’s in words only. It’s crazy how these folks have BLM posted on their house, social media etc but can be like this. Not trying to single any race out but 95% of my racism has come from American born white people. American born Asians are a bit more subtle with it. And the immigrant community has been the most accepting, maybe because they also resonate with what’s it’s like being an outsider. I never experienced racism when I lived in the South Bay because it has mostly immigrants who care too much about work to have the energy to be racist at the same time. In SF, I have gotten nasty stares while walking down the street, people moving to the other side of the street to avoid me, blatantly ignored or ghosted after trying to make friends and on two occasions blocked from entering my own apartment because the Karen didn’t believe I live there. She blocked me from entering my building and called the leasing office and they had come out to verify that I actually lived there. I find myself in the east bay a lot cause people there are more diverse, open minded and down to earth in thinking, but I don’t want to live there either as it has the same issues as San Francisco. I’ve decided to move to New York where I haven’t experienced any of these issues. No one stares at me there or singles me out because being a professional black person isn’t an anomaly there. I would come back here if things look up but until then deuces ✌🏽. TC : $650k

New York is better than SF any day! There is so much to do here!! Welcome!
Haha hell no it isn’t
SF is on the best coast with the best weather. I don’t think so.
Good on you, SF is a 💩 hole anyway
Wow. As a non-american this shatters my opinion of the US completely. I always thought the big urban centers in the US are not like this, atleast not to their fellow Americans.
Hope you will find peace in New York.
I find the white people some of the worst white people in America. Despite having a lot more republicans in the south and tbe Midwest, overall the people are quite nice. The white people here are holier than thou. They think they are above everyone
Their supremacy has been repressed by the liberal culture. So, they keep acting out.
I lived in the south before the bay. White people in the south are polite to your face, but will throw a block party with all the kids from the neighborhood, but forget to invite you and your kid
The white people in seattle is also racist. A coworkers parents were complaining there are too many Asians moving to their neighborhood and they prefer to keep it white

Tell them too many yts here, shoulda kept it Native American
There is a certain quiet upheaval underway in American society in which anglo protestant white people are sliding down from the top, and many of them aren't taking it too well. Phenomena like Trumpism, anti-semitism, Asian hate, and even wokism are symptoms of this.
You might want to check which group is responsible for the majority of crimes against Asian folks in SF. Hint: not white.
I’m sorry that it has been your experience. I’m an Asian immigrant who has been living in SF for the past 10 years, I have nothing to add but agree with you. Oakland is so much more colors and diverse. Regardless whether you move or stay, you don’t deserve any of this, and I hope you like NYC too.
Oakland 😂
If you think you're going to find relief in Manhattan, good luck!
I didn’t just decide to uproot my life and move across the country on a whim. I spent more than a month living in Manhattan and it was way better. With that being said, SF may be too low a bar.
Manhattan wayyyy better. The industry diversity alone begets more racial and economic diversity.
Leaving SF is always a good idea.
