I recently left Microsoft for Facebook. I was walked out but my last day is jul 27. My first day at Facebook is aug 6 What should I do about the insurance gap? My wife and I are fairly healthy and we have no kids. I just don't want to be caught in some preexisting condition problem for having a one week ago or some other problem. My wife's job offers insurance but it is worse than Microsoft's and Facebook's. it is an Aetna PPO. Should I A) have the Cobra paperwork ready but only file it in case of an emergency. Otherwise hope not to need it. B) enroll in my wife's insurance for a month (I don't think they can do it for just a week) C) convince my recruiter to have my FB insurance start one week earlier.
COBRA it goes retroactive so don’t do it unless you need it.
TC?
A for sure
Don't go a day without...can be financially ruinous
Your insurance starts on the 1st and runs till month end. You should be good.
Don't worry about it. One week is nothing
I knew someone who said the same thing and got in an accident that didn't cover her med bills...huge. don't give bad advise...pay the stupid one month of Cobra.
A, doubt C will ever happen
Cobra is your “insurance” since you have it just in case something happens. Just use it retroactively if needed. Otherwise you’d be paying for something you might not necessarily need.
