I have this crazy idea. What if I take a year off to travel/recharge and at the same time convert a good amount of traditional IRA into Roth. My tax bracket would be extremely low because no income for the entire year. The main reason I'm thinking of this is because I'm starting to feel burnt out. The Roth conversion was just an added benefit on top. Any one did it or thought about doing it?
Sounds good. Heard Google takes back employees if the return in one year. If so, great.
Go ahead life is short. So many men in the Bay Area are so boring talking about just the rat race … crypto, stocks, your job and wonder why they can’t find a gf or wife who isn’t a gold digger. Go enjoy life.
I basically did my conversion on a year when I was trying to start a company and had very low income. You have the right idea.
You're clearly not that burnt out if you are thinking about minutia like this. Take the time off anyways though, life is short.
Minutia? I'm in the top tax bracket now (37%). If I convert $120k during the year off, I'd pay very little tax.
That pales in comparison to a year's loss of income
