I sometimes use online orders for gardening products from HD and Lowes. While I have those 2 stores very close in my location, they ship those items fron far away states. Pretty sure, it adds up to their shipping costs. While Fedex has routine schedule for both Lowes/HD, why cant these companies try shortest distance stores if they have enough inventory at those locations? Is it CRM issue or company policy? #homedepot #Lowes TC: 165k
My guess is that those items might anyway be scheduled to be refilled in your store, but instead being shipped to you so that the existing items are in stock in the local store.
Home Depot just acquired a logistics company called SRS Distribution. They probably are losing money on low-volume orders
Your local store may not be set up to package things up for shipping, plus that takes employees away from doing in-store tasks. Ultimately, it’s probably more cost-effective to handle shipping from a few regional locations.

Is "From the River to the Sea" So Wrong?
Always wondered about this too, home depot have so low threshold for free shipping, and for bulky heavy items too. This can't be profitable
