I’m just trying to understand the TC of IITians in blind. If you did masters after IIT in US, please mention that as well. Wanted to see if IIT played a big role in where you are today.

one of my relative completed B Tech from IIT and MBA from IIM A getting around 140 K with 4-5 yrs of exp in Apple at cupertino location . I think it’s more skills specific and not just based on Schools .then he might be making more .
My 0.02$ on this matter would be as follows. A tier 1 college can only bump you up for a starting 7 digit salary vs any Tier-ith college. Its about MoUs and decades of having firm foundation and promise of providing good and disciplined candidates to companies. Now with this understanding, Career progression may or may not take a hit. For example candidate 1 from Tier-ith college starting at 3L in a service company might as well burn and churn to get out of the vicious circle of peanut hikes over the years. Essentially the first step and entry point into major leagues (for <3YOE, major league can be 25L TC, for 5YOE it can be ~50L TC) Can either be provisioned by your college to reward your efforts to crack IIT OR it can be your first shift to a major company to reward your perseverance and efforts (read: LC) 🤔
Get that Indian mentality (school prestige comparison) out of here. Anyone should be able to get high TC no matter what school they’re from as long as they are great at what they do.
