I have an on-site with Google on Friday. I tried to expedite it with the recruiter as I had Facebook onsite last Thursday. However I got a reject from Facebook now. If the recruiter at Google asks me about Facebook, how should I respond.
Tell them you’re still in talks. It’s none of their business. Use it as a bargaining chip
Recruiters talk to chumps all the time. It's pattern recognition at this point. You can catch it when you read code written by a noob, can't you?
Eh maybe. So recruiters go into talks thinking you’re lying if they feel it? That’s not very efficient
He beat me to it. The truth. FB did not work out. No more...no less. Don’t start a relationship with a new potential employer by lying.
Lol what are you talking about? OP you will never see this recruiter once you’re hired. Who cares if you lied
Recruiters lie all the time
Recruiting is a small world and the recruiter might know your FB recruiter and turnover is really high. Wouldn’t risk it especially if you’ve got a terrible poker face: they may ask their friend at FB.
It's unethical to stalk a candidate, no one would risk their career for a random candidate's decision.
Tell the truth
Think about it. If you clear HC do you think the recruiter will take the moral high ground and offer you the best tc? No, they’re gonna be as cheap as possible just because you don’t have another offer. In this case it’s ok to lie.
Just say conversation is still going on and there is no current deadline. No recruiter ever dig into the details. If they dig in, just say I'm not comfortable sharing the details. (same when they ask for numbers)
