So I cleared FB, Amazon and Uber phone interviews. All three called me for onsite. I’ve been preparing for a couple of months now. And took a month between phone and onsite. Still not feeling confident or prepared enough. Is there such thing as “fully prepared”? How did you deal with your interview jitters?
No such thing as fully prepared. Try doing few practise interviews with non-target companies. Take a deep breath and ace 'em all.
Talk in a low confident voice. Challenge your interviewers on every question
I wouldn’t challenge an interview on every single question they ask.
Favorite color? Are you sure though? I don’t think that color makes sense. Try again. Lmao
Chew gum during the interviews. Psychologically you’re most relaxed when you’re “eating”, and that helps overcome interview jitters/anxiety.
Real talk, do people really chew gum in interviews? I love gum and it definitely helps relax me but I’ve always heard not to chew it in interviews because it looks “unprofessional.”
Oh that’s a good tip. Never heard of it before.
If you haven’t done onsite interviews for long time, I recommend doing couple of onsite with practice companies before you do those actual on sites you mentioned
This always worked for me. Visualize every step of the process. fast forward to that day and visualize everything in your mind. Including minor details. This will kill all anxiety.
Hey op how long have you been preparing? Also what leetcode level questions were asked for screening? I’m about to start in a couple of weeks been preparing for a month.
Xanax
Doesn’t it impair your memory and judgement?
Fuck it just smoke a bowl before lmao.
Ludes
How quickly FB reached out after phone screen?
I think they took almost a week. They gave me actual feedback though. Like good in thought, clean code but took more than average time for that problem. So he suggested I improve on speed!
And you had 2 coding questions? All med or easy & hard? Finished on time?
Take a deep breath and a few seconds before you start talking. Consider the whole thing to be theatrical and you’re just acting and your role is to be the best SWE candidate.
I guess we both like taking deep breaths.
