How many teams at Microsoft are in open office setting. I hear the management say that whole Microsoft is moving to open office, I don't believe him. #openoffice
We have three engineers in two cubes. #openoffice
We just got moved to the open office concept and now everyone pretty much works from home. It's the dumbest concept.
They are cramming 28 people in space for 10 offices, Microsoft likes it because it saves floor space I guess. Pretty cheap move for 600 billion $ company
They seem to invest into shared space. Look at wasted space in e.g. bldg 83. I.e. they cram people but I doubt they save floor space. Growth mindset is a paradigm that empowers top management to promote those who deliberately fail, like in this case. Ah, and they are now actively chopping buildings 40 and 41, right now. So no, it does not look like it's considered a failure
Ours is the only team(20 people) in the complete group of 300 engineers to have open office. Feels like injustice. Management says we need more collabration to drive our project faster. How would you react?
Just sit together and talk all day. Tell your manager that you are driving the project as fast as you can 😁
As a person who works in an open office, it's pretty nice, people talk to each other more easily and the office is lively. I've seen teams bond more which effectively does improve morale. I will say some productivity is lost as it doesn't take much to get the attention of the room. But as a pro, email is near non existent and instead information is more easily announced.
It's called work, not social hour
Worked in cabin for 5 yrs and got moved to open an year back. It's more productive but we definitely need more and better focus rooms and rooms for conference calls.
Honestly. I like the open office. Then again, productivity is not something I worry about during the day. (I tend to work late nights for individual work)
I know it may be your style, but it's actually a problem if you have a day job of talking then a night job of productivity.
Feels like a sweatshop. I can't be productive this way.
I heard this project got canned. And the open office is a joke, all it makes you do is get better headphones!!!
I got myself Bose QC 35 and it helps
