Opinion about Goldman Sachs return to office policy?
Recently Goldman Sachs issued a new policy to force employees to return back to office. Some offices might be excluded from this policy. Overall they might be risking peoples live for the benefit of the company Are you ready to go back? #finance #Bank #goldmansachs

Very broad statement @ JPM depends on the LOB and in NYC is even more flexible. I’m still WFH with no RTTO date.

I don’t think people should be FORCED to return, especially for those with extenuating health circumstances. However, I do think a lot of people are ready to return. A lot of the banks have been utilizing surveys to make their decisions on returning to office.
In case of GS, the offices were already opened up in mid of June for the people who want to return voluntarily. But, now, as OP said, after recent update from the company, management is calling back their teams to offices and this is not voluntary.

I don't have kids or family, but I also don't want to die (or suffer for that matter). I will come back to the office whenever there is a vaccine. Not much of a risk taker here, tyvm. Not having kids doesn't make my life less worthy.

Honestly don’t think engineering should be forced to go. We’re just as productive if not moreso at home. Without the hours of commute.

When you get back in the office zoom your boss from your desk just to spite them.
Not starting commute yet. Quite risky still. I heard things like pick and drop to home but I am sure its for nearby areas not to nj etc.
Honestly so many people rely on public transit to get to work and the fact that you are risking not only in the office but on the way to get there alone should not be worth it
This. There a bunch of people who have been sitting in bubbles at home and once we all pack onto to the commuter trains, there will be a larger outbreak than we saw in March/April time frame. Mask on a shoulder to shoulder train isn’t going to do shot for preventing spread.
POS. Good engineers will interview and leave. Those who can’t find job elsewhere will stay. GS will get what it deserves.
By that logic, GS engineering headcount in Asia should have been decimated by now.
A lot of people are too nervous and scared to make that jump
