Will Oracle layoff Cerner associates by the thousands? Will survivors see a pay increase inline with Oracle pay?
I think the answer might lie in why oracle acquired cerner, oracle's own history of offshoring and its current products and services which could replace cerner's. Also look at their past acquisitions and the outcome, especially if it was healthcare.
I don’t think so. Cerner has already let some folks go pre 2019, so I’d think all the Cerner folks are safe now. Oracle will need all the Cerner folks. They just better hope Amazon, Microsoft, or Google doesn’t buy Epic, 😆.
Why do you think oracle will need cerner folks? Did you mean long term like 5 plus years?
Judy secured epics future so as never to be taken public. She split voting shares that can never be sold. I’m sure that will be stomped over when she dies. Capitalism has a way. Will be a shame to see Epic lose control the way Cerner did after Neal passed away.

Oracle is very strong in term of back office, accounting, finance, procurement, payroll, operations with automated and streamline processes as well as excellent IT. I, personally, believe that positions that are not related to healthcare/cerner expertise might have a limited risk. It’s a personal opinion based on previous non-Oracle M&A. That being said, I would not expect to see any significant layoff before one or two fiscal years. Oracle policy is also allowing someone layoff to apply to jobs internally during the notice period. As an Oracle employee, I welcome all Cerner coworker, we will be here to support you.
Thank you. I figure HR, accounting, marketing, legal, process, and some sales will be redundant. System engineering could be targeted but probably fine. Most software engineering will be fine. Consulting and support should be fine. How is the the layoff pkg? Cerner has been doing 2 months paid to stay home as part of WARN compliance and then 2 weeks for every year employed. Cap is like 42 weeks. Not bad for those impacted. Folks will be sad if Oracle is half as accommodating. Rumour is one week per year employed.
It is not exactly a rumor. Lol. 2 weeks severance for the 1st year and one week for every year after that. You get 2 weeks on the payroll but Most of the times, they block your access after 1-2 days of layoff and you can’t really find/apply for jobs. The health insurance also terminates on the last day of your employment.
