Hello all, Got an IC4 offer from Oracle Health Data and Analytics which is now Oracle Health Data intelligence platform Should I make the switch? Blind folks please help Here are the offer details Base: 210k 4 year equity : 680k Joining Bonus : 50k in the first pay check 1st year TC 430k , 380k from next year , no annual bonus and no refreshers Current TC : 260k L64 Yoe: 10 I am worried about layoffs at Oracle Health but I am frustrated with my low tc at Microsoft
They pay 430 for IC4? 😳
That is just 1st year TC which includes 1 time Sign on
Hopefully you are holding your Microsoft shares. My spouse was at Oracle and Microsoft. His Oracle shares are relatively worthless compared to Microsoft's and you are correct about Oracle's pay raises, bonuses and refreshers. Add to that it's decades long history of jettisoning products, and the people with it, and Microsoft may not seem like such a bad deal. With 10 YOE you should be at L65. What is holding you back from promotion?
L65 is a long shot in my org and I am not interested in taking up L65 level responsibility for a meagre TC of around 300k. I do have some MS shares but they are peanuts.
$300K is not a meagre TC in this economy. Microsoft still has an up or out attitude until you reach principal so moving to Oracle may jumpstart your career. My spouse was lucky with the MSFT shares because he started when options were still being handed out.
Oracle health is cerner right ?
Not really , they are saying Oracle Health Data is a new org and they are paying OCI scales for cloud infra roles and my offer was pretty solid too. The only thing is I do not know if this org will stay around long enough
No it's cerner split up with some of the smaller Oracle health orgs that pre dated the merger rolled in. There isn't really a clear structure of what OH is honestly. We report to different orgs, but have other org leaders telling us what to do. The org will probably stay around as long as Larry does, but anyone in it can be gone at any moment in one of the monthly layoffs. Your comp offer is extraordinary compared to the rest of us so that may put you at extra risk if they aren't just getting rid of ex cerner folks. Supposedly a few who moved over from OCI already got caught in our layoffs. Regardless, I would not expect refresher or raise/promo opportunity here, so if you do it, demand the highest comp you think you can get. Our software is made to be a big iron enterprise software suite and they think it is just a lift and shift to oci, so I imagine it will be a nightmare to deal with in the cloud and deserves the extra pay.
That’s an extremely good offer. Congratulations and be careful cause that’s an awful lot of money for an IC4 at this point in OCI. 2 yrs ago it would be higher than avg but this is high in my experience
Why do you consider this high? Last year I’ve known people who got 400k TC at OCI when Oracle stock was around 80$, now its 115$
PhD ?
That looks like an offer in a team that is mostly ex OCI. We haven’t seen layoffs yet but I believe we should be up next when shit hits the fan. The other Oracle commenter got it right, it’s a bit of dumpster fire and every exec is running in a completely different direction. You can transfer after 12 months to OCI or DB, which are the only orgs that can afford your TC. But keep in mind OCI is the one being obliterated right now with layoffs and reorgs. I would take the offer as a stepping stone but don’t plan to be here for too long.
🥲
