Wondering what doors OCI experience can open for me down the road. Are unicorns like Stripe, Brex etc willing to interview Oracle folks? How about established tech companies like G, MSFT, FB, Uber, Lyft etc? I know company name isn’t everything but just curious on its effect. Working on distributed systems and machine learning if it helps. TC: 170K #brex #stripe #microsoft #uber #google #facebook #oracle #lyft
Oracle is a blot on one’s resume.
Could you elaborate?
I joined OCI from one of the major vendors you listed. I don't feel any difference in companies who contact me before/after. You seem a fresh graduate, otherwise TC can't be 170k at OCI. In that case it might have some impact.
Yes I am a fresh grad. Is the TC that low? Impact as in, simply lack of experience would be a turn off?
Like others said, what matters is your interview performance and what you did in your career. But, fresh grads don't have something to point to. Previous company might have a slight impact then. But slight. OCI is not bad.
Bounced O recently, not sure about OCI but most companies look at you funny coming from Oracle.
Damn. I joined as a fresh grad and didn't have blind then. Looks like OCI is widely ridiculed. Is the Oracle name so bad that it's an instant career killer? So no hope to leave for FAANG later?
I think u have the wrong attitude around this. Stripe poached the most froM oci. Our svp, 5 Vps and countless engineers dipped to them. Where u work doesn’t matter, wut u work on does

Seriously? I've got recruiters approach me from G, F, Amazon, Microsoft, Lyft and you could say my company is a no name. You are overthinking
Oh of course, was just wondering because some of the more selective unicorns seem to only hire from other top companies mostly
Ah my bad, didn't read that right
