Got verbal offer from Oracle OCI for IC4. 180k base + 81k (per year for 4years) = 261k. 30k sign-on bonus. The team is doing tenancy management. Backend Java work. It's a bump from my current salary and wondering if I should take the offer. The good thing about my current job is that I am doing full stack work with some interesting project, and very few on-calls. I want to see if the extra money is worth the switch. Also any chance of getting bonuses at all on top of the RSUs? how to get stock refreshers? how's the wlb? #oracle #oci #wlb #rsu #engineering #software
Ask for sign on bonus, relocation bonus
30k sign on
Ask for more or don't bother. Oracle is known for underpaying and overworking employees, I should know I was one of them😂
What's your current TC?
210k TC
You r at what level? And location please. 210k seems high for me.
Current TC? YOE? Level? All of these matter and should be accounted for
current TC is about 210k in IC role. So it's a bump.
Please create a poll and also add job safety factor in your equation. How old are you ? Are you willing to take a risk ? Can you ? Please let's keep our culture add your current TC
not sure what kinda of risk are you referring to? like layoffs?
Not implying anything but OCI stock hasn't crashed like the rest of the market, OCI hasn't laid off anyone yet. Both a good sign and a bad sign. Also, not a good offer. I had a 315 SMTS in Q3 of 2022(I know the market has changed)
well, that's what they can offer. supposedly they have many candidates right now.
Oracle laid of 10,000 people last august and has had near monthly smaller layoffs
How important is work life balance for you. If you care about WLB then it's not a good place to join.
well, I do care wlb. Really want to know whether it's really that bad, and how bad.
WLB is bad.
How much of a bump? Though I feel moving from C1 to OCI is an upgrade itself already. Maybe do a year or two in OCI before upgrading to faang or something you are passionate about.
around 50k bump, also forgot to mention the 30k signing bonus
OCI bonus plan is about 5% if they pay it and if you get it. Also oncall rotation up to monthly. Alot of ops work. WLB varies by team. Raises are light or non existent. Most teams are remote. Up to manager.
5% of the base salary depend on what? performance review ratings? if so, what's the rating like in oracle?
Base. Performance based. Not paid if company decides economy is weak. Very few raises. Can go years without an increase.
What location? Seems low for LCOL
remote in northern virginia area
Good offer for lcol area
