I wanted to do Python but interviewer said that only Java is allowed. I was like okay sure I use Java on the daily at work so I should be able to do this. Cut to 5 minutes later and I am explaining what LinkedHashMaps are to her. Absolutely mental scenes.
On a more serious note, ppl need to chill out that their superior is less informed than they are. If they were as informed, they probably wouldn't hire you. And if it offends your sense of merit, you can choose to leave the interview at that moment.
Interviewer had more experience than me. Also why ask me to interview in java then? Might as well have asked me to code in whatever the interviewer is comfortable with
Idk but I'm saying it doesn't matter. If the interviewer or hiring manager was batshit crazy asking you to write an entire db system from scratch and paying you $5k/hr to do, you suck it up and try your best. When the relationship no longer benefits you, you say adios and move on. It's not personal, just business.
Happened to me at Amazon. Interviewer gave me c++ code but I knew Java
