Oracle vs Credit Karma for PM internship

I’m a junior in college. This past summer, I interned as a product manager at Oracle in the Applications Development group. I have a return offer for summer 2021 with the same team. I also have a PM internship offer from Credit Karma. Pay is about the same as Oracle. No idea what team it would be. Can folks here give me advice on which company to pick for my internship? These factors are important to me: - Ideally, I’d like a return offer for a full-time PM role after graduation. - I’m interested in working on digital experiences for consumers. - Which company pays more competitively for new grad PM’s? - Which internship will look better on my resume when I apply for full-time new grad PM jobs? #oracle #creditkarma #productmanager TC: 0. I’m just a kid 👶

The different experience is worth it.

IMO Oracle doesn’t even come close to Credit Karma. CK is a wonderful company which really invests a lot in its employees. Oracle is the shit show of highest order

“Oracle is the shit show of highest order” Ouch! 😂 Out of curiosity, do you know if CK tends to convert interns to full-time hires?

Yes, a lot of interns have converted to full time but it all depends on your performance and open head counts

TC for new grad PM at Oracle HQ is 210k first year, 160k without sign on and relocation bonus

Capital One yvisns OP Oct 23, 2020

That’s way higher than I expected. Is that typical for all new grad PM’s at Oracle HQ, or just the ones in OCI?

Oracle GLyW68 Oct 23, 2020

Standard offer for SWE/PM for non OCI

Go for Oracle. Pay is higher and it is a tech company at least Or better, just keep interviewing

Literally what is Credit Karma and why are these CK people acting as if they work at Two Sigma or Citadel

Credit Karma dkjenvk Oct 24, 2020

Oracle is a big name that will grab people's attention. Credit Karma has a bunch of people leaving right now because there is no growth or name brand.

Credit Karma ckgirl Oct 24, 2020

oracle is more like cisco. big name doesn’t mean much if it’s a legacy company like ibm

Credit Karma irQH73 Oct 27, 2020

People are leaving because we got acquired and they have FU money

Oracle BantsMan Oct 24, 2020

What team at CK? PM me!

Credit Karma got 2 go p Oct 26, 2020

No guarantee CK will provide a return offer as they’re subject to performance and headcount available; the assets team might be more favorable Oracle is a B2B, Credit Karma for the most part is B2C. You’ll probably get more relevant consumer facing work at CK Most of our PMs are fairly experienced, either grown in-house or from a large tech co. There’s not many new grads

Capital One yvisns OP Oct 26, 2020

Thanks for the insight! > No guarantee CK will provide a return offer as they’re subject to performance and headcount available Does that mainly apply to summer 2020 interns (due to COVID), or has this always been the case?

Credit Karma pm_rpd Oct 26, 2020

This has been the case for quite some time now. It is less likely for any PM intern to convert, they usually go with senior folks.

OP, you should definitely try out CK. Having worked at both companies, I would NEVER go back to Oracle, or IBM or any similar companies. The work at CK is different, exciting and constantly changing. And the best part is the culture and the people that we work with. There's a really healthy relationship between Product and Engineering, which I really like.

At CK PM interns lead real products that are used. I've seen it. CK does right by their employees. Honest open generous and great company.
