I am currently working at Oracle (MTS role). I graduated last year have just completed 9 months at Oracle. While I am good at my job I am a bit unsatisfied with the tech stack that we use here. It's all a bit old. I recently cleared PhonePe interviews and have received an offer there for the Software Engineer role. However, I am extremely confused about whether should I join there or not. The work life balance at Oracle is pretty great and it is an MNC so it has products and offices all around the globe whereas PhonePe is just an Indian company with a startup like culture where I might get to learn and own a lot. Moreover, since I have been working from home only since past year some people around me are saying that I should visit and work at Oracle's Bangalore office for few months before switching because my learning and prospects might improve in Oracle once I start working on campus, but I don't really agree with this view. Compensation wise both companies are almost similar : Oracle : Base = 15.5L Joining Bonus = 6L ( to be returned if I leave before 2 years) Stocks = 600 units ( around 36L vested over 4 years) PhonePe : Base = 23L Joining Bonus = NIL Stocks = around 11L vested over 4 years I am very confused and scared of making a wrong decision and thus would appreciate any help. Thank you.
Phonepe offer with no joining bonus doesnt seem worth the switch since you’ll be returning 6L joining bonus to Oracle anyway. Also phonepe stocks seems low as well (they say they’ll go public soon but I don’t think so)
Also, the 9 lakhs in unvested stock which you'll be recieving in a few months
True, thanks for pointing
Don't jump for less hike. Not worth it. It'll hinder your chances to grow your tc more in the future
What did you choose? Did you negotiated with PhonePe for higher TC? Myself in a similar situation.
You realise that your effective TC is lower in phonePe right?
Well if you look at the per year earning and ignore the joining bonus for a moment or maybe you can divide the 6 into 3 for 2 years then it comes out to be almost similar around 27L/year.
Oracle stocks gonna go up by a good margin dude, just wait. I'd suggest you to switch at SDE2 level.
