Considering an offer from Amazon. Will Oracle terminate my employment immediately if I tell them I’m leaving for Amazon? I’ve heard people were let go on the same date when they gave 2 week notice, because Oracle treated them as going to competitors. I’m not sure if Amazon is considered a competitor to Oracle? Also I’m in a non-tech role, it’s finance/accounting. Any thoughts? #Resignation #Non-compete #Going to competitor #Employment

Do not notify until after you leave. Yes, Oracle and AWS are competing
Well on paper at least…
What happens when you are walked out, do you get severance pay ? , Or paid until the last day as usual
+1 for Oracle experiences
You don't have to give a 2 weeks notice
No one really cares in OCI about AWS. About 30% of OCI is made of ex-AWS including Clay and Don. It's AWS who should be worried if someone goes to OCI You as a IC don't have any secret or IP informatio. which AWS isn't already aware of or can harm OCI. Zilch! Stop giving yourself so much importance in larger scheme of things. You will be OK even if you tell the whole world. No one will bat an eyelid.
That’s rude but I appreciate the response which makes me feel safe
Just don’t say where you’re going
It’s pretty weird that they actually care about this. It’s not like we know something about cloud that AWS doesn’t
You are just an IC, no one cares.
Nobody cares Good decision though
You don't have to tell where you are going.
But I’m really close to my team…idk, it just feels weird that I don’t share the info
If you are going from OCI to AWS, then you may be walked out.
