PSC = FB’s performance review process At FB I feel like (so do most other people based on the posts in FB internal group), there’s constant stress about PSC and impact. There’s a performance review cycle every 3 months, every always talks about PSC rating and impact. I feel like I am always being evaluated and under the gun to show impact. It has made my life miserable. (Same goes for my coworkers I feel). I feel FB is okay if your career is your only focus, but not so great if you are a family guy and want to have time for yourself. How is the PSC at other top tech companies (excluding Amazon and Netflix as I heard they are equally shitty) ? Can’t wait to GTFO, but don’t know where to go 😂

Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
After many years and companies, the only pattern I see is that those who work after they get home and put in occasional to frequent weekends get the good ratings. Exceptions are those who got into a good niche that's usually on the decline and nobody new is getting into it but it's still necessary.
Indeed is a good exception. Pretty good wlb
Indeed is insanely good work-life balance if you don't care about advancement. If you care about advancement, then it a much more complicated problem space.
Not at all
Google is very good
How is GCP ?
It’s all the same
Where did you work previously? Or was FB your first job? Also, how long have you been at FB?
Stress is an illusion, it's only in your mind. Learn to turn it off.
But getting PIPed is real.
^particularly if you are on a visa
Amazon has annual reviews and a midpoint checkin at six months I think.
But that's not official
Doesn't FB have satisfaction surveys? Does your manager get good ratings from the team?
Managers don’t give a shit about survey
To be fair it’s not solely the manager’s fault. It’s the manager’s manager that should be making them feel pressure if survey shows employees are not happy with him
"always being evaluated and under the gun to show impact" - Sounds like 3 month PIP plans, 4 times a year.
Yeah sounds like eternal PIP for everyone all the time everytime
Alas whatever meme led to this 3-month cycle of 360 reviews among HR people has infected Splunk too. We were chill until 2017 but at this point the managers who said hell-no to quarterly cycles have been coerced by senior leadership to adopt the HR corporate policies. So your bosses and peers are looking over your shoulder every 90 days, keyboarding comments into your permanent record on Workday and a couple of other databases. Workday: Just Say No.
How is it for managers? Are they also constantly under the gun?
Yep they are
I thought it was every six month you get a review and a bonus?
official review is every 6 months But there’s midpoint checkin as well. So essentially once every 3 months Every 3 months there’s planning for next quarter and result review of existing quarter So this performance/planning shit is always there
The midpoint is not a big deal if you're performing - it's literally a no-op.
