Lockheed Martin SWE

Hi all, I tried my best with FAANG the past couple of months. I definitely need about a year or so to prepare and try again. My job is extremely slow and boring, I don't code nearly as much as I'd like. In the meantime I'm thinking about getting a job at LM as a software engineer. From my understanding I could make around 100-115k with 3 yoe. Does this seem accurate? Current TC: 80k YOE: 2.5 #Software #Engineer #lockheed

You will make a lot more than that at a FAANG even for entry level. More like 180k+.

Right. Was new to LC and failed my Google phone screen, and Amazon/Meta onsite interviews. Defiantly need some more time to prepare.

Yes those are expected levels for L2 SWE only if you are in a fairly HCOL. L2 at other regions like Texas would probably not hit that high.

Is it unheard of in a MCOL/LCOL area to hit 100k+ at LM? I'm not desperate to jump ship at my current role. Also, what is the interview process like? LC? Behavioral? A mix?

Lockheed Martin JoYV15 Jun 27, 2022

Depending on the area low 100k is possible, the company is in dire need of talent, so you should be able to negotiate without much of an issue. As for the interview, its a joke, no LC, behavioral isn't nearly as indepth as other companies

There’s a million jobs out there better than a SWE at LM

I was a SE for a defense contractor for two years (not LM). My advice: don't do it. The work was really boring.

Lockheed Martin JoYV15 Jun 27, 2022

Im currently at LM, although Im leaving for FAANG, but the work is incredibly interesting if you work on the right projects. That said alot of people get stuck with boring development work or maintance on existing software

Amazon Thx4️⃣🍌s Jun 27, 2022

Yeah it seems defense contractors are very hit or miss. The work I was doing wasn't even real SE work. It was just gluing shit together in VMs through automation.

Median for L2 in Marietta is like 95k. Just conducted an interview.

Where do you currently work?

PM me for a referral. LM interview is straight forward, no nonsense. My interview was a single 1 hour phone call. I work fully remote, TC 125K. While you won't make 300K at Lockheed - you can get a good remote gig. Work 4 10s, 10% retirement match. I'm really enjoying my work right now as well.
