I think it’s not a big secret that in medieval times Muslim countries were scientifically and technologically more advanced than the rest of the world.

It became too risk averse, “ failure is not an option” hats were sold at their cape canaveral museum shop. With this attitude you can’t be daring. They became pseudo enterprise. Happens to very govt agency as the bureaucracy expands. Also doesn’t help when politicians talk more sjw then pumping up the voters for space exploration. No politician before trump even talked about going to Mars
I liked the general idea of a daring goal. Yet somehow it didn’t sound genuine. I didn’t see the follow up with actual progress and excitement. I wonder if nasa drawn this in their burocracy already.

Muslims have an analog of what you call debt system. Personally I think it’s a bit less efficient but the most part it works in the same way, lookup Sukuk loans. In the end you pay about the same interest actually
