I am interested in a role at The Home Depot and the level is a Staff Engineer within their Security org. Need a quick insight in below 2 items (thanks in advance) - Where in hierarchy a Staff Engineer is? Is that equivalent to a Sr. Manager? - Are they heads down with only technical items or also pay a major role in strategic work? Blind Tax: 150K #tech #security #cybersecurity
I estimate the salary at home depot is around $145k for that role with a small annual bonus that isn’t guaranteed when the recession hits.
Plus stock but crappy vesting
I’m also confused. Home Depot’s title hierarchy seems weird. I - II - Sr - Staff?
That is correct
Thanks! The listings for those jobs are confusing because II - Sr - Staff had literally identical “Job Description” fields. I eventually noticed that the only difference was ‘Years of Experience’ on the ‘Qualifications’ tab (0-2-5-8 YoE, IIRC)
Senior principle engineer is equivalent to sr manager. That's 2 levels above Staff at THD
When I was at PayPal they had a similarly-long skill tree for engineers. Topped out at ‘Tech Fellow’, or something along those lines.
