Snapchat offer

I’m expecting an offer from snapchat (bay area office) is this a good time to join them? my gut is saying no but the snap recruiter and the hiring manager are saying otherwise (obviously) I’m 100% happy at Google but snapchat is offering a career jump and TC jump. current TC: 380K Snap TC: TBD

Yes. Have family. That’s what I’m thinking too.

Dell LUHV04 Mar 24, 2020

True.

I think all the non-profitable companies should be avoided. Some of them are still hiring like the virus isn't going to impact the economy much, but I think we'll see quite a slowdown in ad purchases and snaps profitabily model relies on that increasing.

Google SeinfeId OP Mar 24, 2020

Google it is then

The one caveat about snap is the monthly vesting. Because of that, you can almost count the stock grant as cash because you can sell it immediately as it vests monthly. Given the variability in the price etc. You could probably make some good $ for a while, but may end up looking for a new job in the next 6 months. Depends on how much risk you would like to take.

Doesn’t matter until you get TC info from Snap

Snapchat snap Mar 24, 2020

Very good time to join especially because of the under valued stock price at the moment. You can check public data on this, but Snap has enough cash to weather a very long recession. It's not going anywhere any time soon

Google SeinfeId OP Mar 24, 2020

Thank you and I sure hope so. Let’s wait for numbers and see where it goes from there

Curious though, what’s the run rate for Snap?

Salesforce jergcsdui Jul 17, 2022

What was the tc difference between Facebook and snap ?

LinkedIn dvggfvvhd Mar 25, 2020

what's your snap level?

Facebook psc4lyfe Mar 26, 2020

What are your numbers? It is all a risk/reward thing. Snap will be riskier but you have 2 years at google to fall back on. Meaning you’ll get another job easily if you are laid off since you are a top engineer (resume wise).
