Currently have 2 years left on h1-b and no perm or i140 done. Oath startdd the process but Oath has too many layoffs. Want to switch companies. Is it wise to switch companies at this stage of my h1-b . Do companies do PERM processing immediately after joining if you are in your 5th year of h1-b ?
Also, even if you have 1.5 years left it is still good time for perm to start.
Sorry to say, but lots of companies will be unwilling to hire if only 1 year left on H1B ... Change job ASAP or stay put till you get I140
Colleague got his perm done last week guess it depends on role and manager. Speak to manager and see
I had 18 months of my Visa left with no I140 approved. Facebook immediately stopped the hiring process for me. Also, another company HR mentioned that nowadays companies need minimum of 20 months on visa. This gives them sufficient time to initiate GC process and secure I140 approval. I would say start looking for job right now without any delays.

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.

If you are not affected in the layoff, start prep for interviews and Feb March timeframe.change your job. I have seen companies file gc in first month of joining.
