I have an I-140 from a previous employer. I just finished 2 years on an NIV. I have the A# and courtesy copy but not the official copy. I think the A# should be enough to retain the PD but I can start GC process some time before the 6 year NIV period? I'm from a backlogged country whose PD is not current. Is there any advantage of starting GC process with current employer now since I have 4 more years of NIV period to go ? #h1b #perm
AFAIK, you need I-140 copy as well to extend h1-b beyond 6years
Perhaps you're right. Edited.
I have a courtesy copy of I-140 and looks like that should be enough.
IMO, you should not procrastinate on getting the new PERM and I-140 filed. The longer you wait, the more difficult it might be to obtain the required experience letters from your former colleagues. In addition, if we get 4 more years of Trump then they could make the I-140 adjudication more stringent at some point in the future.
What is NIV and A# ?
You can stay for 6 years on a Non-immigrant visa (NIV( before requiring a fresh application. A# is Alien number
