In my company (Etsy), they didn't do layoffs, but instead, they are letting people go with PIP left and right. I think these stealth layoffs are the worst. Several teammates disappeared randomly without severance. I am looking for jobs just in case, but it's a tough market. My manager never gave any bad feedback, and I exceeded expectations last year. However, the teammates who disappeared also were good performers. This makes me very nervous. For the folks interviewing, we have open roles, but I recccomend avoiding it until this wave of PIP finishes.
What org are you in?
Can I dm you with some questions?
It’s layoff season. Companies are trying to save on severance and not get bad publicity.
Arent layoffs good publicity? To shareholders at least, wouldnt they want to communicate they are cutting costs this way
They are communicating that they need to cut cost because they can’t make any money.
This is a thing
I thought the PIP’ed get severance?
Even if they do, it’s much less than layoff severance. Also, less notice (like no notice with pip, while layoffs may mean some time on garden leave where you still pay the employee). Finally, the company may have additional legal expenses for layoffs, while pip is standard procedure. Pip is much cheaper.
Yep, can confirm that similar things are happening at Intuit.
I haven't seen a single pip case on blind.
Wait a couple of weeks
Qq, why was Amazon tagged in this? 😂
So that Bezos can feel good about himself
Etsy is hiring several contractors through the Mom Project company. I just wrapped up an interview a couple of days ago.
Wow…this whole time at Etsy has been unsettling to say the least …
Etsy has such high employee scores though. Is just the current environment unsettling or has it always been that way?
I think it’s definitely the current environment
OP, are you able to share which organizations within the company are being hit the hardest?
Can I dm you with some questions?
They need all the money to do stock buyback.
