This is my second year as a PM and have been wondering how much outside networking other PMs do. I have a decent network outside of tech but in tech and in the bay area I dont have a good network yet. Please share what sort of networking activities you do? (LinkedIn, events, meetups, conferences etc) and how often? What are the other ways you have networked? Do you think networking is crucial in the PM career path? Thanks,
Yes. As a PM it will be crucial as you advance in your career. If for nothing else but to hire teams that make your product successful.
I know it's crucial, more interested in what kind of networking stuff you do.
A diverse networking strategy works best to experiment; associations, volunteer opportunities, conferences etc are great but some of the most value I've seen is maintaining existing relationships and keeping those healthy
Honestly, networking is important in general for any career.
