I feel like most people negotiate their salaries when given a job offer, but I’m curious how many people are negotiating equity! When given a job offer in the past: Have you ever negotiate your salary? Have you ever negotiated your equity compensation? #offer #equity #stockoptions Would love to hear how people go about negotiating equity as well (both private and public companies).
Base > equity >= starting bonus In that order
Tend to agree, but in many cases it can be: Equity >>>> base > starting bonus (@ startups more often than public companies)
Certainly depends on the company and whether I believe in its future or not. exercising options comes with its own headaches and that paper money is a lot more risk too.

For me, everything is on the table for negotiation. Equity (RSU + cover what you’re leaving with your current employer), annual bonus, base, sign on bonus, etc.

Agreed! You can’t get what you don’t ask for.
