Iowa primaries have made it clear Trump going to win nomination and he'll be reelected. In this term he'll be more cruel to temporary visa holders and anyone who wishes to immigrate. All H1B holders should plan accordingly. If you don't already own the house, don't invest in any real estate. Dont buy or lease new car unless and until it's absolutely needed. Update Yes last time some people got faster H1B because Miller missed the rollover edge case. This time they'll make sure to stop rollover. Their aim is to reduce immigration. And hurt as many immigrants as possible. People will say last time he only went after contracting H1Bs. This time they want to harm every non-immigrant. Always hope for the best and prepare for the worst .
Overreact much?
No overreaction. You'll see in Jan-March 2025. There'll be chaos. He'll start off with undocumented folks. But soon he'll make renewing visas difficult.
Our jobs will be safe. Instead of in Bay Area we will be working from Banglore.
I know people whose H1B visa renewal didn’t go through last time he was in office. Other issues like H4 EAD , additional scrutiny etc came up. I am sure things will be worse next time because this time they will be prepared from the get go.
Stephen Miller is preparing for assault on legal avenues since last year. They had made some progress in 2020 but they lost. This time from Day 1 in the office they'll start changing regulations.
I think first he needs to take care of illegal immigrants .
He can and will multi task
He will not get elected. And if so he will not be able to meaningfully change immigration law. We already went through it. He managed to tighten the screws on some fraudulent H1Bs and added some more checks but no real change.
If he's not elected then it will be great. But there's nothing wrong in assuming worst case and being cautious for people on visa.
My point is that it doesn’t matter. People on H1s should not buy real estate, Trump or not. The fact that people do it on a temporary visa without understanding the risks is crazy. Outside of that it doesn’t change your life at all. Don’t try to scam the immigration system. Now, if you’re going to not change jobs or leave the country for 4 years out of fear then go for it. For most visa holders nothing should change.
Agreed. I don’t know anyone who is stupid to buy a house on visa anyway, that’s really a dumb decision. Your life is literally at the hands of a visa officer in the consulate. Goal should be to make as much liquid money as possible and be ready to leave anytime Illegal immigration should be addressed by any means necessary. How would you feel if someone came through your door unannounced and starting using your home as theirs? Liberals don’t want walls at the borders, but love having 10 feet fences around their homes. Fucking hypocrites. Trump should shut down the border. Illegals should be kicked out first and foremost
So if your visa gets rejected you'll lose your home here?
Lol what a fool. H1b folks got gc sooner because of Trump
Because last time they missed that edge-case, I can guarantee you this ime they won't. This time they'll have plan in place to make sure FB to EB spillover doesn't happen.
Spillover is not in their hands. its law. changing law requires at least 60 votes in senate. unless a party gets 60+ senate seats as well as the house and prez no bills gonna pass. thats whats been happening for the past 15 years. also in Trumps first 2 years they had the house and senate yet they didnt pass anything out of the ordinary
I had 2 renewal during trump and also one visa stamping . Did not face any issues . What I know only consulting /servicd witch and some body shops faced issues
Wait till the H4 EADs start getting denied.
STEM OPT as well
In mentally prepared to leave on Jan 20th 2025.
lol nothing will happen 😂
Better to prepare and nothing happens rather than vice versa no?
