Hello Blind Community, Today I received a call from my recruiter and she told me that the packet will be sent to the Hiring Committee and she will arrange calls with managers for team matching in parallel. When I asked about the feedback she told that there were some positive points and some negatives but overall it was good enough to send to the hiring committee. So, I was curious if anyone is aware of how hiring committee decisions are made and how likely/unlikely is it to pass the hiring committee process. Thanks
Congrats. You’re well on your way to mid point :) Several more checkpoints to go: 1) HC approval - about 4/10 pass HC but that’s also org specific. Could be slightly lower. A committee will read through your interview packet (interview feedback and experience) then make decision. 2) if you pass HC, you team match with a manager and get placed with a team you’ll work on. 12 months to find team. 3) Once you team match, you need final SVP approval. Low rejection rate here but it does happen every so often. 4) sign offer letter
Thanks for explaining. In my case they have started team matching before hiring committee decision, does it make any difference?
Why does it take 12 months to find a team?
FFS no wonder there are so many available jobs it takes SO LONG to hire anyone! It’s insane.
I'd say odds aren't great.
Yes it seems like that. So recruiters forward most of applications to the committee then?
The bar to get to HC is kind of low. The fact that the recruiter wants you to do team match means they think it might help. If you get rejected, I'd say you were kind of close and should try again in a year or so.
I have been in this situation twice and both end up with rejection. The second time had extra two interviews and hot rejection. Feels like for Google interviews you have to smash it.....
There's a lot of luck involved too.
I see but then what is the use of sending package to hiring committee if they don’t accept nothing less than perfection in each interview? It might save some time.
Are you the guy who missed your recruiter's call on Friday lol?
Yes I am.
Although it’s extremely hard (I was in ur shoes), don’t read too much into it. To my understanding team match in parallel means ur application is good enough the recruiter doesn’t think u need to match first
This. I had to team match before HC because I was already a borderline candidate. I matched with a really cool manager but still got rejected at HC. So I feel like you’re ahead of where I was for sure if you don’t need a manager to vouch for you.
