What type of questions should I expect and prepare for?
Have you never pair program before? I usually just ask questions I don’t quite understand about the present code. Whoever is driving is probably way more knowledgeable than me, so he could walk through the codebase for me.
I am fairly new to paired programming at an interview level. Asking questions is a good point. But I am sure, they would expect me to solve a problem
Oh got it. Didn’t know you meant at interview. In that case I have nothing to add. Maybe you will see some sort of code and asked to refactor or fix bugs?
Not sure how they do at Slack, but I would expect solving a problem similar to a coding question, possibly less complex. Focus on clear communication, well named methods and classes, iterative design. Don't expect someone actually coding with you, think like you had a peer at your side while you were building the solution.
