I've been interviewing with Palantir, but I've talked with a bunch of folks who in addition to raising the culture issues I was aware of, pointed out that Palantir on a resume = blackball in the future. What does Blind think? Would you not hire someone coming from Palantir?
I worked with somebody from there who was amazing and not the stereotype at all I'd just be extra careful in asking questions for determining cultural factors, much the same as interviewing an engineer from an investment bank or trading firm.
What do you mean exactly?
Just ask them why they no longer care about the shire.
They sent a background for my interview that in one corner had "speak friend and enter"
What are the culture issues?
Concern that the company is amoral or unethical, and therefore so are their employees
Oh so Facebook and Google aren’t amoral 😀
whatever rep palantir has is infinitely more respected than Deloitte
Fair enough hahahaha. I guess going from worse to bad is an improvement
It’s not bad. Neither is Deloitte. It’s going from decent/okay/average to somewhat top tier with possibility of corrupt work in the eyes of certain individuals. If you are scared of that, than there is no top tier tech that will satisfy your moral compass 😂
Palantir is considered a company that hires really strong tech talent, so no clue what you are talking about. It's much weaker now than it was in 2016 or so, but still it's definitely on par with other good companies. I interviewed with them around that time and got rejected after the onsite. They did put me in a 5-star hotel in the center of London and hired a driver. I don't know if they still do that today, but the CIA money was real.
CIA, ICE, Foreign Govt's that once employees knew they were working with them I physically watched them get up and walk out and tell their manager they quit on the spot, NYPD, LAPD, etc etc etc
As opposed to Meta, Google, Microsoft, Jane Street, etc, etc, which would reject these customers on moral grounds?
I would assume it'd be a good thing to have on your resume given their high hiring bar.
It was about 6-7 years ago... most folks in the tech world haven't even heard of them until recently.
I think they're pretty well known.
