I have seen a lot of conflicting opinions on Palantir. I have had the recent opportunity to apply for a Software Engineer or Forward Deployed Software Engineer. I'd like to know if you were given the opportunity to work for Palantir, would you? Maybe leave a comment why or why not.
FYI Forward deployed software engineer is a fancy title for consultancy/solutions engineer. You get to glue together Palantir solutions and clean up client data.
I have an inkling this ol’mofo is attracting short sellers to fk’em over to hit their short stops to gain momentum. Why would you stop others from going long if you really want to get out? lol ol’man has good tricks up his sleeves.
Soros invests in Facebook and Twitter lmaoo what a joke... "negative social consequences of big data were less understood" like disinformation, depression, election interference..?
I’m in a similar situation and am wondering if working at Palantir would hurt my chances of working at Google or other places in the future...
If you have the capabilities to get into Palantir you'll be able to get into Google
I joined as a SWE about a year ago, and I’m loving it. Although I believe the hiring bar isn’t as crazy high as it used to be, it’s still high and the people here are extremely talented. The negative press can be tiring, but I think our media posture is starting to improve and we’re doing a better job of representing our work to the public. Once you’re on the inside it’s a lot easier to believe that the company is overall “good” and empowering a lot of institutions in crazy cool ways. Personally, I get a lot of ownership over the features that I build, and I understand directly how they’re going to improve our product. I solve difficult challenges with smart people and I’m paid well. I think it’s a shame that we have such a negative reputation on here, as I’m sure a lot of people who would love it here miss out because of it. TC: 330k YOE: 2
That's amazing to hear! I hope I get to hear more about folks like you and other great product areas during my interview process :-)
I hope so too! Good luck to you 😊
I’m about to receive an offer from Palantir and I have same YOE. I want to ask how you were able to get 330k TC?
Your gonna get a good stock price my guy! Personally buying now
Hey any update?
How is their TC? I wouldn't go to Palantir unless the offer was too high to turn down (at least 2x my current comp). At least Google is providing people with useful software in exchange for their data.
Their stock is up 2x within 2 months of IPO FYI
@Google Palantir as a company doesn't store any user or private data... They're essentially a black-box data processing and analytics software that is run on top of the client company's data, to be manipulated and sifted through by the client users. I'd argue that this sort of processing software is useful for very many customers, especially when said data is massive and hard to analyze in its raw state. They're really generous in compensation as well. For reference, I got ~230K For a New Grad offer
