Hi, I got offers from Palo Atlo network as a Snr/ Staff Software engineer from the Cloud Native MTS team and Software Engineer (Level 60) role from Microsoft in Azure team. I know the WLB at Microsoft is better, but I am getting a better pay at Palo Alto Networks than at Microsoft. But which one should I choose? Can anyone please suggest? Current TC: 160k overall comp 130k base Palo Alto TC: 150k base 100k rsu and 12 per cent bonus every year(194k total comp) in California Microsoft Tc: Didn’t talk much to recruiter , says the total comp would be arnd 150k to 175k in Seattle. #interview #compensation #offer #microsoft #palo alto Experience :2 yrs master + 1.5 yrs industry
1.5 yr and senior, it's not the pay that I see as the problem. It's the leveling. God knows how desperate Palo alto is to offer a senior or staff title at that
⬆️
Staff is L3, Sr Staff is L4 equivalent
For that comps, take Seattle!
L60 is new grad. Ask for L62?
I am trying to atleast ask for L61, but can I do that with my experience? Can I ask for it?
I’m pretty sure you could. I have a BS <1 YOE and got L60.. so.. you should for sure be higher. Unless your experience isn’t relevant
Cute u think Azure has good wlb.
Azure has great wlb compared to aws
I am ex-Azure myself, And it was tribble. Haven’t work at AWS so can’t comment on that. But anyway OP is not comparing to AWS.
Worked at azure and their pay is lower but benefits are higher such as 401k and medical leave and paternity etc. Palo has a terrible 401k but great stock value and compensates the 401k difference in salary. Also they give you higher stocks than msft ever will. Chose palo! But be prepared that it could be shit busy more often than you think. But we are getting better. If you are young and wlb is not something you are scared of , you should explore palo alto.
+1
Any concern for joining when the stock is so high?
You'll make 15% from espp anyway. Stock market is always challenging. It will eventually come up. Top 95% of the companies chose palo firewalls as their security provider. We are expanding fast in other areas as well.
Account annual refreshers. At MSFT, it’s peanuts. At PAN, I have been getting ~50% of initial grant every year
If you want to stagnate and chill you should go to msft
Lol learning at the right level is not stagnation
