any folks here who work at Pandora, or know somebody working there? Could you share how is it working there, and is it worth switching at this point? Thanks
I work for Pandora and these are just my observations. The work culture and work-life balance is very good here. I even know people who work from home completely. It is that flexible. You can switch projects and teams whenever you want and the managers listen to your interests. The salary and RSUs are decent and comparable to the Bay Area market. Regarding sustainability, we are still the largest music streaming service within US by all metrics. We have put out new products to the market - Pandora Plus and Premium - hoping to convert a good part of free users into paid subscribers and the reception has been great so far. The ad supported free version of Pandora is still doing good with advertisement revenue. So, overall, the company is doing fine at least for the near future. If you are considering engineering at Pandora, you will not go wrong.
YMMV. TC is way low due to bad stock performance. Not the largest by ALL metrics. WLB is great, read ton of people slacking and a few doing all the work. Insane tech debt, poor engineering leadership.
What position and team?
damn you guys make it sound nice, rejected an offer from them a while ago....maybe shoulda thought more about it
Companies like these are a rare gem in the valley..i endorse everything my fellow pandas have said above
Agreed with all the above.
Agreed with all posts as well, life work balance is something sacred in this company, it's not only supported, but highly encouraged. Peers are smart, tasks are challenging. Company grew a lot recently and there is plenty of meaningful work to do. There is some degree of negativity that comes in a form of acquisition rumors and criticism of business model from outside, but people stay optimistic, dedicated and focused.
Layoffs happening every year don’t help for the last three years
can you hook it up so my wife and I can listen on the same account at the same time?
You can absolutely do that on Pandora radio in a non-subscription tier (free radio).
well we have an ancient Pandora one subscription so we keep getting the dreaded someone else is listening message
Been at Pandora a little while now, longer than I have stayed at any other company. I usually get the itch to move on due to boredom, culture, or poor management. I don't see myself looking for a new company for quite a while despite all the market negativity.
Lot of us have been around for many years. I've been here for 6.
Yes- amazing, smart folks and no egos- really good place to land for sure.
