Thinking of exploring Partner Engineer role at Snap. Main motivation was to move to LESS coding/system/operational/maintenance work. I like doing high level tech work but not necessarily implementing it, also like interacting with ppl and travel for work which I think is highly needed as a PE. Any suggestions/comments are welcome. If you are Partner Engineer at Snap or Meta, I am eager to hear from you. P.S. TC offered by Snap as PE L4 is easily 50%+ than Amazon SDE L5 (plus better benefits) #snap #partnerengineer #offer #amazon
Can you share the Snap TC range for PE? I'm currently a PE at Apple (TC 233k, IC4) and I interviewed for Snap at around the same time. Needless to say, I second guess that decision every now and then. For Apple it was mainly a team-fit / behavioral marathon with one very soft technical round (reverse an array and another easy-ish question I forgot). I ended up not moving forward with the Snap interview since they were going to have multiple LC-style coding rounds which I thought didn't really apply to the PE role (or shouldn't). PE is defined differently across companies with Uber/Twitter having them more as developer advocate roles but more technical and with more scope and others like G/Meta/Snap having them more like partner-facing SWE.
Not sure of the range but mine to be precise was 380k TC at L4. I was placed at top band of L4 from what they told me. And I didn’t even try to negotiate since I was expecting way below it. I first had a coding round and then in ‘on-site’ I was asked 3 behavioral and 2 LC style easy/medium Q but the bar to clear all the coding rounds were low IMO. I made some obvious errors e.g mixed up row vs col in 2d array etc but interviewer were satisfied with the approach. I constantly stressed on asking what skill would make me successful in this role and I was consistently told communication (and not coding)
What's your location/YOE? Now I am... heavily regretting not interviewing for Snap but I might revisit that after one year at Apple

Op, what's the TC breakdown for PE role at snap? I got reached out by a recruiter recently for the same role. From your above comment it looks like on par with L4 SDE role at snap
OP, did you end up accepting the offer?
