Partner Technology Manager vs Staff Engineer @Google

I'm a Tech Lead with a heavy engineering background, considering a shift and primary interested in Staff/Principal roles. But due to certain circumstances a recruiters from Google started talking to me regarding Partner Technology Manager role, Actions on Google. And I do not even know what that role is about. Are here folks from Google who can bring some light on what this role is about, and what a typical day looks like? How you would compare this role to the Staff Engineer role? In terms of TC, duties, etc.? And would it make sense ask recruiters to interview for both roles? Will highly appreciate any information and thoughts on that matter. #google #googlecompensation #googlepartnerengineer #googlestaff #googlecomp

Think of it like a sales engineer role. You'll be building solutions for partners or helping partners integrate with Google products.

If you'd like to lead a team of SWEs, work on / review design, you'd want to join the SWE track. PTM is a more customer-focused / bridging role. That said, it's generally known to be tough to join as Google L6 (staff) given that Google often downlevel people coming from the equivalent roles at different companies.
