Starting at Google later this year, and my other half recently became pregnant. This is a great blessing for us, but raises the question of timing. When does Google's paternity leave benefit kick in? Is it from Day 1 or after a year or somewhere in between? TC: $235k primary YoE: >10 ETA: I don't want to disclose the pregnancy before my official start date, so would like to hear from Googlers/Xooglers about the parental leave policies.
DM David Drummond; I’m sure he is up to speed
Check the criteria they have for paternity leave. Most companies require you to work for them a certain number of days and for a certain duration to qualify for job security while you are out.
Just say "my wife". It's simpler.
Funny how there was a parallel if Google will view the pregnancy like a pre-existing condition and health insurance. Lol
If your baby is born after you join the company, you typically get that company’s parental leave benefits.
Varies widely by company. Most companies require one year of service before paid paternity leave, if they offer paid leave to dads at all.
