Why do you care if you work at Microsoft?
Paternity leave = vacation for new dad

12 weeks paternity leave
12 weeks pat leave, can take even if you join after baby is born, can break it up however you want I think (until baby is 1)
+1 . This is accurate. There is more - you can break it in pieces and you can get extra 2 weeks ramp up if you take it in one go
Good to know! Wasn't aware of the extra ramp up weeks
Leave has to be >= 5 days each time though. For less you can just use vacation
Ah OK. Wasn't aware of that part. FB lets you do as many splits as you want (even 1 day at a time) and I think MS only allows it to be split once.
Do you have to have worked at the company for a certain amount of time in order to take the leave? The law says that you have to have been with a company for 12 months but I know that companies are generally more lenient
No, you can do it the first day I guess but Google will pay it completely, not CA (if in CA)
Good to know, thanks!
Also, do they do parental leave (same for mom or dad)?
