After seeing a post about this article from a fellow blinder. I tried deleting my PayPal account. https://news.yahoo.com/paypal-policy-permits-company-fine-143946902.html Seems that a lot of people are doing this after the recent news. Because of this, now there is a "problem" when I try to transfer my money out of PayPal. I say forget the money as it is only $10 anyways and go to the settings to close my account but it won't let me and asks me to contact customer service, even after deleting and reinstalling the app. It was working fine before this. I am definitely closing it now!
It’s still on their website for a violation: $2,500 liquidated damages.
I changed all my subscriptions from Paypal to a creditcard. Kept the account open just in case if I forgot anything. Will close it next year.
The company is going in shambles very fast. The entire online shopping community got pissed when they removed free return shipping and now $2500? PayPal must be having hard times.
It is not a lucrative business. Otherwise FAMMG could take over the space a few years ago
Banking is always about flipping money and writing losses. I was appalled that PayPal didn't move fast enough on POS though was a pioneer in cross country transactions in 00s
This doesn’t make it okay. Visa and Mastercard don’t do this.
But they don’t limit freedom of speech 🤷♂️
Their backtracking is weak as shit. “We didn’t mean to add that” is complete bullshit. Words just don’t magically appear in terms. Fuck PayPal
That's true. Even if what they said is true and they didn't mean to add it (which I 100% doubt), why is that even on the list of ideas? To fine users for disagreeing with their ideology. And I thought republicans were intolerant lol, the gaslighting is real.
Terms and conditions are legal documents. There is absolutely 100% no way that change didn't get seen by at least half a dozen lawyers before the final version was updated. It was intentional. I closed my account and requested permanent deletion of my data.
