Currently with PayPal working based out Scottsdale, Arizona PayPal : 180 Base 15% bonus ( 120/3 ) 40K per year.. due to stock crash its now 15k per year.. Capital one offer : 185 base + 15% Bonus + Sign on 50K + relocation Texas Plano location PayPal stock crashed from 309 to 79 dollar so will be vesting very little for next 3 years. stocks might go down to further 60~ then it will b e 10k per year work life balance not good. however, in C1 50k will be getting in first 30 days and cost of living in texas is ok and no state tax. I see good WLB in C1 as per the reviews. Please share your suggestion to stay in Paypal or pick capital one offer. #paypal #capitalone #offer
C1. Paypal is obselete
C1. WLB and culture is excellent 👍 Work is NOT boring.
HR spotted. Not true at all.
I’m not an HR. I’m a Data Scientist. You need to find a good team to feel good about your work.
YOE ? Role ?
15 years senior manager C1, T26 PayPal
Except you don’t like where you currently live. I wouldn’t relocate to start over for no pay raise. Also texas is no longer cheap as you will barely find a nice house for less than 500k and property tax at 2.3 that brings your mortgage to 3700 monthly at 5 percent APR. rent in a nice neighborhood is 2300 for 2 bedroom
C1 paying for relocation which take care of relocation expenses..I agree texas is no longer cheap lot of companies moving to texas so demand is more so price are increasing.. that's right no pay raise in this move.. attended few big tech interview unable to clear the line to get good pay hike. I do have close friends and extended family in Texas so prefer texas over current location. as you said true about the rent is min 2000+ in good neighborhood
Texas is nice I recently moved there from the east coast. If you prefer texas than Arizona then that makes sense then. Good luck on the move
Along with a couple of other finance companies, I have worked at C1. The culture can be varied based on your LOB and team. Some things to keep in mind: 1. The performance management system, essentially stack rankings, is brutal. Many have complained and asked for change, but Fairbank seems determined to keep it in place. 2. Challenging work is dependent on the LOB. Learn about the business unit and what major initiatives they’re involved with. 3. Maximize your role/level during the hiring process. Promotions can be difficult and get stuck in bureaucracy. Example, moving from Senior Manager to Director level (and yes, they still use these levels if you’re an IC) can be very difficult once you’re there. 4. Yes, you can apply for different role in different org, but POLITICS. You will need to make friends and alliances in those other orgs to ensure that the posted position is real and that you’re seen as a potential fit. The second you apply for another internal role, you manager is notified, which can make life very uncomfortable.
thanks so much for your information. Agreed on all points..
Do you enjoy politics? Are you good at navigating the political waters? Because C1 is an extremely political environment and unless you thrive in that, I’d stay away. The stack ranking is brutal, and based entirely on politics and not merit.
Hi OP - I have an upcoming interview with paypal. Can I DM you?

Scottsdale is nicer than Plano and the only thing you are really getting is the $50K sign on. It sounds like you have already decided on C1 and it's certainly a solid offer in a no income tax state (higher property taxes). I have several friends in VA who work for CapOne and can confirm what HashCorp said about bonuses (and pay raises too).
Thanks for your inputs .Not decided yet that’s the reason posted poll . Paypal work is boring and outdated that’s the reason want to hear from this forum
