I just joined Amazon about a month ago and already am ready to leave. I got a 17k sign on bonus (12k post tax). I’m ready to go but I know I need to pay the sign on bonus back. My questions; do I need to pay back 17k or just the 12k I actually got post tax? Also, do they take payment plans or do I have to do it all at once? Thanks! YOE: 5 TC: 101k #Amazon #AWS #signon
17k
Refer to your offer letter. You will write a check for 17k most likely.
Sorry just curious.. what was so miserable that you’re ready to go one month in?
Onboarding experience is honestly complete bullshit. Also I was a little disillusioned and basically lied to in the interview process cuz the role I got is actually a step back in my career
I’ve heard about cases where people have successfully argued to not pay it back. Don’t know details, but worth looking into.
Can these be paid back over time, rather than a lump sum ?
If you have 5 YOE, you should easily have more than 17k in your account. A payment plan would be embarrassing.
If you can get a 0% loan via payment plan, it's embarrassing if you don't take it.
I dont think you need to pay it back if you get monthly bonus.
I got a lump sum since it was below 20k
Oh .. unlucky I would say.
My friend needed to return after tax, so 12k. They will provide prorated sum
What team did you join ?
ECT recruiting
you need to pay it all back plus more. I got fucked when i reneged microsoft and had to pay back the sign on plus extra taxes that I never got back.
How come you never get it back ..
