Last month I started interviewing with PayPal for SSE role and within 2 weeks finished all the interviews. A lowball offer was made within couple days of the final interview. Offer- Base - 158K Bonus - 10% Equity - 147k vesting over 3 years Sign on - $0 I immediately expressed my dissatisfaction and requested tc to be increased by at least 20%. Recruiter told me she cant change equity but will check for other items. She stalled me for 4 days and then came back saying that the position was put on hold, exact words - "Paypal is no more hiring for this position" Today I got a text message from recruitment coordinator asking my availability for one final interview with the same team and same HM. When I told him what happened couple weeks ago, he apologized and said thank you for the information. I texted recruiter to check if position is reopened, but she is ghosting me. This whole experience was bizarre. Are they shopping around for cheap developers now? I never expected this from a tech company like PayPal. Has anyone experienced this before in silicon valley? tc: 180k yoe: 10 #paypal #offer
Which location though ?
It was a remote position but since I am in bay, they told me that I would have to come office once a week. Again, not what I expected.
For bay it’s low. For mcol like Texas it’s okay
I was shocked how little Paypal pays. I have been shopping around for 3-4 yoe roles and though PayPal would pay more, but they just don't.
This is where competing offers would have helped. But looks like their offer was still better your current TC, you could have accepted it and looked around!
Yes, of course I was eventually going to accept it and look for other options. I just didn’t anticipate them going away only after initial discussion.
But honestly, in consulting, Principal is just a title based on yoe. I am doing nothing that a principal engg would do at FAANG level companies.
what location though
Hi. Can I DM you to get some insights into interview process?
That just how much they pay.
